About Jacob

Software Engineer in the SF Bay Area with extensive experience building sophisticated high-performance web and mobile applications.

I've also built interactive animated data visualizations with SVG and JavaScript, worked quite a bit with video (HTML5, DASH, Ads and Flash), maintained and extended social media applications, constructed online storefronts using virtual currencies, and created custom web frameworks.

Prior to moving to the Bay Area I lived in Chicago, IL, where I co-founded ChicagoAcoustic.net, a Chicago-based promotional platform for independent musicians. I also worked as a saxophonist, arranger, orchestrator, music copyist and librarian, orchestral contractor, production manager (for live events and film scores), audio engineer (live and recording) and ran a weekly jam session for jazz musicians.

My real home town is Charlottesville, VA, where I learned programming in BASIC on a Commodore 64, and later built my first websites to promote the bands I performed with.
